Here are some of the things we're doing this year. It's not an all-inclusive list since occasionally we will meet to build things et cetera. Would you like to see us at your next festival or having us visit your school? Feel free to contact us anytime about having us over for your next event.

A.D. 2011
November 5-6	Austin Celtic Festival : Austin, Texas. A great Celtic festival put on by the Austic Celtic Association on the shores of Lady Bird Lake. Check out the festival website: www.austincelts.org/festival.
April 3	San Antonio Highland Games : San Antonio, Texas. We return to the annual event held at the Helotes Festival Grounds in San Antonio, Texas for Sunday only. Please visit www.SAHGA.org for more info.
April 2	Tejeda Middle School History Fair : San Antonio, Texas. Come see us, along with other groups like Legio VIII (Romans!), as well as Dark Ages groups, ACW groups, Native american groups, and a host of modern militaria, including an Air Cav group that flies in a helicopter and lands on the football field.
March 17-20	A.D. 43 : Lafe, Arkansas. Return to the immersion event all the Celts and Romans are talking about. Kill Romans, full Feasts, warm fires and good company. Arrrgh. You can find out more about this excellent event by visiting www.AD43.org.
March 5	Explore UT: The Largest Open House in Texas : The University of Texas at Austin will host it's eleventh annual Explore UT: The Biggest Open House in Texas. We'll be assisting the Department of Classics with their interactive exhibit: "Exploring the Ancient Celts."
January 7-8	Archaeological Institute of America 112th Annual Meeting : San Antonio, Texas. Come see us at the Witte Museum where we'll be building another coracle on-site! The frame will be built from freshly gathered willow, and a new cowhide will be prepared for the little boat frame. There will also be some of our othe displays there like the pottery, textiles, weapons and armor. Visit www.AIA.org for more info.

  A.D. 2010
  November 7-8	Austin Celtic Festival : Our Iron Age display is expanding! Come see the our carnyx: the war trumpet used by the ancient Celts in battle. We have also recently built a true hide-covered coracle. Sure to be a great event! Check out the festival website: www.austincelts.org/festival.
  October 1-3	Iron Age group campout : We'll be camping at a nearby State Park. Not necessarily an Immersion Event, but rather a weekend for us get together as a group. The park has a small lake where anyone who wants to try the coracle is more than welcome to, but be prepared to get wet! We'll still have some period recipies and practice various skills. Good food, good company, good park, sure to be an awesome weekend. If you would like more information, please contact us.
  August 21-22	Roundhouse Construction Weekend II : We'll complete the contruction of the roundhouse that we began two weeks earlier. Any wattling that needs to be completed can be done here and we'll get it ready for transport.
  August 7-8	Roundhouse Construction Weekend I : We are building our first roundhouse with local materials and proven methods. Visit our Yahoo discussion for location and further details! This is actually a "portable roundhouse" made for taking to demos and fairs to aid in teaching about how the ancient Britons lived.
  June 19-20	Open House Camping Event : A new site in Conroe, Texas. It's a fundraiser event to raise money for the new kitchen, open to all the groups that either currently use the site or are thinking about it. Games, demos, and other things are being planned, and a pot-luck feast on Saturday night. It's an informal thing, so garb/costuming isn't mandatory. So grab some people, bring your gear, and let's all do some show-and tell. Plus it's a good reason to get out of the house for a day or two.
  May 22	Vista Ridge High School Latin Fair : Cedar Park, Texas. This is their first year putting on a Latin Fair! It's being held to raise money to send students to the National Latin convention in Fargo, North Dakota this summer. Come out and help support this cause! From 11am to 3pm.

  October 3	Harris Middle School History Festival : Location: Northeast San Antonio. Along with other historical reenactment groups from the area, we will be presenting the Iron Age with hands-on demonstrations for the students and visitors.	Minor Event
  May 16 & 17	Houston Highland Games and Celtic Festival : Location: the Houston Farm & Ranch Club, 1 Abercrombie Drive, Houston, Texas We'll have a booth here with diplays and demonstration of various aspects culture and technology from Iron Age Britian.   March 19-22	A.D. 9 : Teutoburg Forest Disaster : In 2009, AD43 Castra Lafe will be sponsoring an event that will approximate and explore the the conditions of the Germanic frontier fort, the march of Varus's Legions and the aftermath of the battle. The Official website of the event.	Major Event

  February 10	Leather Workshop : Location: Tandy Leather Factory, 5370 Walzem Rd., San Antonio, Texas. Learn the historical leather working techniques used by the Celts and Romans. We will begin with an introduction to techniques and materials, then spend the rest of the day crafting.	Workshop

  A.D. 2007
  November 3 & 4	Austin Celtic Festival : Location: Fiesta Gardens, Austin Texas. This Biggest and Best festival of it's kind around here. See Us and the Romano-Brits in a friendly setting in our "village" at the southwest corner of the festival.   October 20	Iron Age Swordmaking : Location: The Univeristy of Texas at Austin, Waggoner Hall, Room 201, Noon - 1 PM. The presentation will include slides from the Kelvedon excavations, from the British Museum, and from several Scottish museums.	Minor Event
  October 13	Photo Shoot : Location: at Friesenhahn Park in San Antonio, at 1pm. Meet with a visiting documentary photgrapher to capture us in Iron Age and Roman kit.
  September 8	Planning Meeting : Location at members home in Austin. Check message board for details. We'll be discussing upcoming events and will also be a Potluck with period entr�es.	Event
  September 1	The Whole 9 Yards : Location: Austin, Texas at the Howard Johnson, 11:30 - 1 PM. Seminar on many aspects Iron Age textile production as shown through artifacts and experimental archaeology. This is presented to Lonestar Mensa Group at their annual celebration.   March 17	Things Celtic 10th Anniversary : On St. Patrick's Day we'll be at Things Celtic to celebrate our favorite Celtic shop's first decade! Aside from Living History demos, there will be a children's area (with crafts, games, etc), a "sheep to sweater" demo from St. Brigid's Gate Farm (live sheep, spinning demo), a "Family History" booth, the Austin Celtic Association will have a booth, and of course, Live Music.   March 3	Explore UT: The Largest Open House in Texas : The University of Texas at Austin will will host its eighth annual Explore UT: The Biggest Open House in Texas. We'll be assisting the Department of Classics with their interactive exhibit: "Exploring the Ancient Celts." More than 30,000 visitors are expected to participate in a day of free hands-on activities, performances, demonstrations and lectures. Times are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.	Minor Event
  February 24	Imperial Rome Exhibit : Over 400 artifacts from the extensive collection of the National Archaeological Museum of Florence, as well as loans from other leading Italian museums in Rome, Pompeii and Ostia Antica, illustrate the diverse lives of Romans, from emperors to common citizens." This exhibit will have it's debut at the Houston Museum of Natural Science this weekend and will be attended by several reenactment groups (Coritani, Legio IX, Legio VIII, Legio X and The Roman Way).
